Upcoming Colorado Workshop

 

I'm looking forward to returning to Colorado in about a month and a half to teach a new version of my Creative Digital Darkroom workshop. This will be a chance for you to get away from your normal routine and totally immerse yourself in creative photography and image processing. Plus, we get to do this in a truly beautiful setting high in the Rockies at the world renowned Anderson Ranch Arts Center.

The week will be a combination of camera work in wonderful locations and exploring processing technique with Lightroom, Photoshop, and mobile apps. Bring whatever camera works the best for you, including your camera phone (I'll have mine with me, along with a dSLR and a wooden pinhole camera). We'll be looking to take your photography and your image processing up a few notches. You'll leave the mountains with lots of new ideas, technical mastery, and inspiration for your artistic journey.  Follow this link for more information...

Through a Curious Lens

I'm pleased to announce that I’ll be the juror for a national photography exhibit this summer at the Santa Cruz Art League in Santa Cruz, California. In addition to showcasing what I hope will be some really creative and interesting photography, there will be $1000 in awards! The title and theme of the exhibit is Through a Curious Lens (click for the entry page).

Exhibit Dates: July 10 – Aug 9, 2015
Entry Deadline: May 25, 2015  (U.S. residents only)

Here's a summary of what I'm looking for:

“Photography is the act of looking, seeing, and finding images, both in the world around us, as well as in our imaginations. It is an inquisitive pursuit, and while it is well suited to recording the world as it is, it is also uniquely suited to portraying the curious world of dreams, memories, emotional, fictional narratives, and the pathways of the imagination. This exhibition is open to all forms of photography, including images that have been digitally altered, and seeks to find photographs that look at the world through a curious lens, whether that is through an inquisitive look at ordinary things portrayed in a different way, or scenes, real or imagined, that evoke the realm of dreams, memory, and the imagination…”
